Empire State Building papers, 1929-1953.

The Empire State Building records in the Pierre S. du Pont papers document the organizing and financing of Empire State, Inc., (1929-1930). There are minutes of board of directors' and stockholders' meetings, as well as copies of construction contracts. Also included are estimates of cost of operations, monthly financial statements, records relating to leases, financing, construction, and design. The papers contain blueprints from the construction manager's office, floor plans, as well as contracts for lighting fixtures and woodwork. The difficulties that Empire State, Inc. had in renting office space is described.
